Random Item Wednesday

"Voooooote Oooooboooomba!"

Item - Has pwogwessive princess Diggly turned off comments to quell a brewing revolt on Bibbitybobbityboo? The Democrat Doyenne's angsty brand of lesser-evilism hasn't been mollifying the suckers like it used to. Some of her less dim fans have even tumbled to her transparently manipulative "lookit the wingnut" scaremongering. What's a listserv liberal to do?

Item - Exweeeeeme Wibberal has found a guest blogger even dumber than himself! Take a big steaming gawp at "Staci" - a regular Wibberal groupie and Obot in good standing who is wondering why anyone would say her God-Emperor's stimulus didn't work. And why don't all those icky poor people just change stockbrokers? I mean, everyone has a 401K, right? So there's no reason not to get rich, is there?

Item - Forging forth at the far-flung frontiers of fauxgressive cluelessness, The Lame Gimmick Pundit ought to win some kind of award for this awesomely stupid statement:
Fuck anyone who says this is "playing politics." It's the Congress. Politics are always at play. You either support something or you don't, especially when it comes to fundamental rights.(emphasis mine)
Isn't that marvelous? But it begs the question - how does Lamey live with that much cognitive dissonance clanging around in his skull? Is Lamey some kind of new pwoggie mutation?

Item - Oh noes! Dave Sirota is crying fauxgressive foul on freeper super-freak Eric Erickson! Democrat Dave's dilemma? He stole my book cover! I ask you - is there no honor left in publishing business?!?

Item - The Fortress of Pwogitude is in full campaign mode - and Pwogwessive superhero Pwogman! and his sidekick Stevie Dee are blasting away at their arch-nemesis supervillian. 'The Republicans?' I hear you query. 'Super Karl Rove?' No! It's the stupid, stupid Voters!

While Pwogman! excoriates the War Party for actually pandering to it's base (teh horrors!) Sidekick Steve aims his formidable ire at the those gullible, dumb, stupid dumbhead Americans too stupid and dumb to support the Other War Party. Watch for a super-fit of super-apoplexy if the midterms don't go their way.

  1. Granted, he may be right for all the wrong reasons, but still, Sidekick Steve does has a point about the intelligence of the electorate. As I pointed out at http://sinkers.org/stage/?p=571 -- US voters really are just plain stone-cold stupid. I mean, how else do you explain the success of the Tea Party and Barack Obama?

  2. All right. I'm fucking pissed now. Why don't these arrogant little snobby shits just go commit fucking seppuku or something? Just fall on their swords and get it over with. Oh yeah that would entail having to grow a FUCKING SPINE!!! Sigh ... I'll be in my bunker, scheming world domination, while the pwoggie's continue to scream bloody murder for the rest of their natural lives. Useless little shit's.

  3. Weird. BobbityBoo isn't showing me any comments. Is this some blessed failure on my server's part, or have her fans really just shrugged away her usual fare and gone down to the corner bar to shoot some pool instead?

  4. None of the above, Ms. X. Disgust with corrupt corporate-sucking representatives is at a point where even oblivious B-list pwog-bloggers like Diggly have begun to take notice. In response, Diggly usually turns off her comments whenever the peanut gallery starts talking about third parties or not voting for democrats or some such heresy. Amanda Pander and some of the others do the same thing from time to time.

Because access to low level White House operatives is more precious than life itself. Go figure.

Digby doesn't like to be criticized. Her imperiousness comes out in the writing. Like a lot of pwoggies, if you deign to diss on the saintly Dems you are immature and impractical--or a purist. We heard them all, through the years. This time, with the economy in the shitter, those odious manipulations are inoperative. Which makes me wonder. Digby's brand of sneering partisanship may have reached its date of expiration. I'd be kinda scared if I were her.

  7. That's fucking hilarious hypocrisy by Sirota. When has Sirota ever had a novel idea of his own? He's such a pampered yuppie douchebag.

  8. Scared? I dunno. The main thing about pwogs of Digby's level - they're pretty well insulated from the world in which we lower 70% peons live. Nothing really touches them except in the most abstract way. I mean, what's the worst that could happen if things really went south for La Digs? She'd miss out on conference calls with some Whitehouse basement flack? Lose her seat at nutroots nation? Get bounced from the listserv? Big-fucking-deal.

I guess by scared I mean she'd lose credibility with her readers. Her cachet would diminish. She's obviously invested in the Dems come hell or high water. How many years can she shill for a broken model? That's probably why she's exhausted defending the Dems. I'd be. But maybe I'm underestimating the level of self-delusion.

By the way, I love this blog. It's so under the radar. I wonder if the A listers ever come over and take a gander. Anyway, keep up the great satire. Someone has to wade through the pwoggie muck.

  11. Thanks BtP. Fortunately, like their freeper breatheren, the pwogs tend to shy away from anything that doesn't immediately reinforce their preconceived notions.

  12. While the items selected for Random Item Wednesday may have been randomly selected they all speak to a common theme. The Democratic Party is imploding. They're going to get their asses handed to them in the election and nation will get another turn at the Republicans totally fucking things up.

What I'm wondering is how long will Americans stand and watch as the "legacy parties" (with a nod to Lambert at Corrente) destroy their country.

If past results are any indication of the future I'm guessing it will a very long time.

  13. Re: Digby's difficulties, I wonder if part of the problems isn't that the Holy of hollies--the Professional Middle Class--is being sacrificed, bit-by-bit, to the Greater (neoliberal) Good and these kind, liberal folks are sensing that. I mean, austerity is fine when it's a poor black Cadillac mom with eight kids who's probably scamming welfare anyway...but when the day comes a post-graduate teacher can't afford his or her own 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home...

    Anyway, one can dream...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'd say you're right, DP. So long as it doesn't affect the price of gas, Americans will put up with a lot.

I don't know if Diggles senses much, though. When Slick Willy slashed the guts out of welfare programs back in the '90s, ostensibly because of fictional "Cadillac driving welfare queens," I've little doubt it went without much comment in Diggy's gated SoCal community.

Calling Diggly a "liberal" is like calling Velveeta "cheese." Not the real item, but a passable imitation if you squint real hard and happen to be mildly concussed. No, Dilby's a "progressive" - which is a creature of more or less equal parts moral chickenshit, political opportunist and social meritoid.

Thus, La Digs will say she supports poor people while, at the very same time, remaining utterly silent when food stamp programs get cut so the Pentagon can buy stealth drone death-beam laser weapons (which will be used to kill poor people in other countries - and which Diggles will also completely ignore.) She'll say she support democracy and remain still as the grave when her state passes democracy-destroying laws like the Top Two Primary initiative.

Pwogs say a great deal and do very little. They're not cheese. They're a pasturized processed cheese-like product.

  15. Whoa. I haven't read Digby for a while so I went over and gave it a look see and it's like you say, all fear "look at the wingnut!" all the time.

I suppose she's all signed up for Stephen Colbert's "Keep Fear Alive Rally". If not, she would certainly fit right in.

I don't think Digby is on the left at all. I don't think most A list bloggers are either. I don't any of our elected officials are on the left. Maybe Kucinich and Sanders.

For instance, you will never see Digby advocate strongly for universal health care. If you can't advocate for that you are most certainly not on the left. She also doesn't particularly care about economic justice, workers rights or the labor movement. To be on the left, these are prerequisites. Historically this is what it means to be on the left.

The progressives of today are essentially mild social liberals and economic right wingers. In sum, we have no functioning left.

Of course, having said that, these so-called progressives will call you a purist, which is basically an insult, an epithet, in order to throw you off balance. I've long since shrugged those manipulations off. There are more and more people doing the same. Which gives me a little hope.

You can point out all the Dem failings year after year and Dem partisans (

Cheeze Whiz cures all political and socio-economic ills.

The pwogs are just Team Players. Their identity has nothing to do with left vs right. It has everything to do with Supporting The Team. This explains their continued support for The Donkle as The Donkle moves in giant running steps toward Reagan Revolution Republican territory.

The other thing I notice about Digby. She'll delete your post if it doesn't fit into her ideological boundaries. You don't even have to be vitriolic, just state your position intelligently and she'll delete it. She particularly doesn't like the idea that the corporate capitalist model is a bankrupt model. You can't point to root causes of our economic predicament. Basically, socialists are unwelcome.

  19. BtP's above post reminds me of how Panderdome used to breathlessly trot out Socialists as museum pieces on her blog to show off how historically book-learned she was. But of course the real-life, modern-day version was fit for nothing but shunning and/or occasional ridicule.

As to the pruning of posts that disagree without trolling, Blue Oregon used to do the same thing to any Nader voter that could defend their case without frothing at the mouth. Which is why I stopped going there after a couple of days, several years back. I think one of their regulars eventually got into a huge argument with another Godlike figure in Smithee's Rogue's Gallery who shall remain nameless. The BO poster was unhappy with Obama's idea of "healthcare reform" and was loftily instructed by the other Good Demo to quiet down because her "credentials" were clearly unsuited to the debate. I pretty much laughed my ass off. Some days, even minor league Instant Karma™ can be a lovely thing to witness.

  20. Plenty of "left" sites will hack your post out of the brambles and thickets of echo-chamber-participation if you do any of these:

    * seek root economic causes of our present clusterfuck

    * expose hypocrisies by Donkey politicians

    * expose hypocrisies by Donkey-faithful pundits OTHER THAN the host pseudo-pundit

    * expose hypocrisies by the host pseudo-pundit

    * expose factual or logical reasoning errors by the host, by an external pseudo-pundit, by an external "accepted expert" pundit, or by a Donkey politician

I should know, I have been kicked off most of the "popular" pseudo-left Donklebot blogs for doing the above. (Daily Kos, Eschaton, Glenn Greenwald, TalkLeft, Huffington Post, OpenLeft, and more)

    ReplyDelete
  21. PS: Also, for doing the above, I was also booed, jeered and japed at a few blogs that **seemed** to be more sensible. Cases in point: Whiskey Bar and Moon of Alabama. At those blogs, wheezing and micro-examining of econ theory issues was a stand-in for actual exploration of root causes. As I lacked the "econ" lingo and other secret handshakes, I was given the bum rush.

Personally I walk on eggs while posting at FireDogLake. But I try to kick some sense in these people by being polite. So far, I haven't been kicked off. I know Jane Hamster is of questionable integrity. I mean, where does all that money she raises go to? Certainly some of it is being siphoned off into her pocket. I also wonder if these A list bloggers have real jobs. Does Hamster have a real job? This is why I would never give money to their causes. I'd rather help out my local animal shelter than give money to these people.

  23. Cerrtainly a few of the A-listers, pwog and freeper, pay themselves for their political persiflage - but most trade on their intarweb popularity for tiny bits of access to low level party functionaries. Undoubtedly your local animal shelter does more good in a hour than the entire pwoggiesphere will ever do.

  24. The success and popularity of the completely vacuous is a source of wonder. I suppose that lifestyle choice kind of/sort of counts as a real job. It takes effort anyway, and there is a little bit of money in it for the few, the proud, the bull goose cadres. Call it comparative success, as most of them must make do with the thrills of page view hackdom.

  25. Speaking of lame attempts at humor, the Democratic Party bootlick called The Lame Gimmick Pundit has called forth from it's hoary grave the LOLcats meme to help explain away a weeks worth of his parties pettifoggery...

LOLcats, huh? From where I've been watching, I've been seeing a whole lot of Leave Britney ALOONNNEEE!

Wow..."pettifoggery". What an awesome word. Shame hardly anybody uses that one now. That sounds like a word my grandmother would've used.
